Risk Assessment Plus
The traditional security approach is to ask: “what can hurt us? what can we do about it?” Armadillo At Large takes a more holistic view. Through a process called “Discovery”, Armadillo undertakes a process called Risk Assessment Plus.
Country analysis, safety considerations, a security audit and other investigations provide a comprehensive inventory of the information relevant to each organisation and project. The aim of this exercise is preventative security.
Organisations can be a danger to themselves unless they program properly – through agency awareness, contextual understanding and staff re-training.
Attitude and behaviour are immensely important in getting the best out of social interactions and avoiding danger in volatile regions.
Aid Agencies have a particular problem because they become political actors when they decide upon the allocation of resources. This function has to be properly understood in order to mitigate risk.
It is also important to have the right people for the job, to instill effective discipline and to consider the impact of ex-staff on operations. Armadillo At Large can help organisations to identify these problems early and to apply decades of experience in putting them right before the program even begins.
